How does the Fraud Alert Module work?
Our Fraud Alert Module for Magento Commerce integrates into your Magento store and uses industry leading services such as MaxMind to help identify potentially fraudulent orders as they arrive in your system. Every order has information that we use to perform calculations and apply a 'fraud score'. The score is then totalled and displayed in your order page.
Do I need to buy MaxMind Credits?
Yes, once your introductory free credits are used up. DirectShop Solutions customers get 20% off the normal rate. You can follow this link to Maxmind to get discounted credits. You can get 1000 credits for free, but once they are used up you will need to purchase more. They are very cheap though, so visit their site to check pricing.

Magento Fraud Alert Module and Multiple Stores
We allow installation of one purchased module into one Magento installation. One Magento installation might run multiple websites and stores. If you are running multiple instances of Magento, or are a Magento reseller, we require you to purchase a module for each instance of Magento. For bulk pricing or resale enquiries, please contact us.
What is Fraud Screening and why do I need it?
Fraud screening is the process of screening and testing orders to see if they appear to be fraudulent. Screening of all orders is often done manually by customer service staff which is time consuming and costly, and can lead to mistakes. Automatic screening services, like our Magento Fraud Alert module, do a lot of the scientific tests for you as orders are placed on the website. A large number of variables in the orders are checked, effectively 'pre screening' the order and allowing your customer service staff to more thoroughly investigate orders that appear more suspect and perhaps stop shipping of orders due to fraud indicators.
Does your Fraud Alert module automatically stop orders being processed?
No, our fraud alert module does not stop transcations taking place. If you automatically charge 'valid' credit cards, then this will not change. However, in your admin order console orders will be screened by our module and given a risk score out of 100 for you to look at. This could prompt you to halt shipping, cancel the order, refund the credit card, or whatever you wish. Shipping or completing the order is still your decision.
What is the ideal threshold number to set in admin?
We have found that 50 is an ideal number to start using as a threshhold. This means any order that scores 50 or higher will be highlighted in your order views for closer inspection. However, every industry and webstore is different, so continue to check your orders a they arrive, and determine the best threshhold scrore for your particular site.
